Ratios roughly between 1:1.1:1.25 and 1:1.6:2.5 are commonly cited as tending to distribute modes more evenly (e.g. the Bolt area). This is a reference heuristic from room acoustics literature, not a guarantee — a "good ratio" room can still have real problems, and a "bad ratio" room can be treated successfully.
