Studio Music Tools ("we," "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through studiomusictools.com (the "Site") and what we do with it.

Site features and information you provide

Free room-calculator inputs are processed in your browser. Contact and consulting forms send the information you provide to our backend so we can respond or deliver the requested service. Purchases create order and delivery records; payment processing is handled by Mollie. We do not store payment card details.

At checkout we ask for your country so we can show the VAT included in the price. Your order record keeps your email address, the items, the price and any discount, the VAT amount and rate shown to you, and the country you chose. When you pay, you are sent to Mollie's hosted payment page and enter your payment details there. We pass Mollie the order amount, a description of the order and an order reference; we do not send it your email address or your country.

If you create an account, we store your email address, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), whether your email address is verified, and your order history, downloads and any Pro access you have bought (for example Drum Studio Pro or MIDI Studio Pro), so you can sign in and get your purchases again. Free tools that run in your browser, including Vocal Studio, Drum Studio and the MIDI Generator, process what you load or create on your device; those files are not uploaded to our servers. Audio to MIDI also processes the original audio on your device. When you are signed in, its converted MIDI files, filenames and save timestamps are stored in your private My MIDI library, including subsequent edits. Original audio recordings are not stored in this library. You can download or delete saved MIDI in your dashboard; deleting your account removes this library.

The studio quiz stores your progress in session storage on your device. When you request results, your answers and email are sent to our backend for scoring. Results are displayed on the page and sent using our transactional email provider, Resend. Requesting a result does not subscribe you to marketing.

Newsletter signup is a separate choice. The quiz marketing checkbox starts unchecked, and newsletter forms explicitly ask you to subscribe. Buying something, using the contact form or requesting quiz results does not subscribe you to anything.

When you subscribe we store your email address, the place you signed up (for example the homepage, a Learn article or the quiz), your subscription status and consent timestamps in our subscriber store, and we add you as a contact in Resend, which we use to deliver newsletters. Resend processes your email address on our behalf. Delivery information, and, where the provider has it switched on for our sending domain, open and click statistics, may be recorded by the provider. We do not build behavioural profiles from newsletter activity.

Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link. Using it stops all newsletter email to that address; we keep a record that you unsubscribed so that you are not subscribed again by mistake. Transactional email (order confirmations, download links, password resets and replies to your contact messages) is separate from the newsletter and is sent because you asked for the service, not because you subscribed. Cookies and local storage

We use a small amount of storage on your device. Necessary storage keeps the site working and does not need your consent; analytics is optional and is off until you accept it. There are only two categories, Necessary and Analytics. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies or pixels.

smt_session cookie: Necessary. Keeps you signed in to your account. It is set only when you sign in or create an account, and lasts until you sign out or the session expires (30 days by default).
smt_cart_v1 (local storage): Necessary. Remembers the items in your cart until you remove them or clear your browser data.
smt_cookie_consent_v1 (local storage): Necessary. Remembers your cookie choice until you change it or clear your browser data.
smt_newsletter_popup (local storage): Necessary. Remembers that you closed the newsletter prompt (it stays away for 14 days) or that you subscribed.
smt_quiz_session_v1 (session storage): Necessary. Keeps your quiz progress while the tab is open; it is gone when you close the tab.
smt_drumlab_v1 (local storage): Necessary. Drum Studio saves your current pattern on this device so it is still there when you come back. It never leaves your browser.
smt-hero-v1 (session storage): Necessary. Remembers which homepage photo you saw last, for the length of the tab.
smt-handoff (browser database, IndexedDB): Necessary. When you send a track from the Track Analyzer to EQ Studio, the file waits here on your device and is removed as soon as EQ Studio opens it. It is not uploaded by that step.
smt_audio_checkout_v1 (session storage): Necessary. When you click to pay for a mastering, EQ export or stem-separation job, the tool page passes the job reference and the email you typed to the checkout page through this key so you do not have to type them again. It stays in that tab only, is never sent anywhere except to our own checkout when you pay, and is gone when you close the tab.
smt_eq_paid_<order> (session storage): Necessary. Stops the same paid EQ export from being counted twice; the tab clears it when it closes.
_ga and _ga_<ID> (Google Analytics 4 cookies): Analytics, optional. Count visits and how tools are used so we can improve them. They are set only after you accept analytics, and Google's default lifetime is up to two years.

Fonts are served from our own servers, so loading a page does not send a request to a font provider. When you pay, you are sent to Mollie's hosted payment page, which is governed by Mollie's own policy.

Google Analytics 4 is loaded only if analytics is configured for the site and you accept it. It can collect page visits, device and browser information and usage events such as quiz completion or newsletter signup. We do not include quiz answers or email addresses in those events, and advertising features and Google signals are switched off. Rejecting analytics leaves every feature of the site available. Closing the notice or scrolling does not give consent, and the newsletter popup or the cart never grants analytics consent.

Use Cookie settings in the footer at any time to change your choice. Turning analytics off stops future analytics events at once, tells the Google tag to stop collecting, and deletes the Google Analytics cookies we can reach. It does not erase information Google has already received.

Audio Tools (Track Analyzer, Adaptive Mastering, EQ Studio, Stem Splitter)

If you upload a file to Track Analyzer, Adaptive Mastering, EQ Studio, or Stem Splitter:

We do not use uploaded audio to train any model. That's the full extent of what we claim about uploaded audio — we don't run a broader privacy program around it.
Files are stored under a randomly generated ID, never your original filename, in private cloud storage that is never publicly readable — the only way to fetch a file back is a time-limited, signed link generated for you.
Stem separation runs on our own server infrastructure (not sent to a third-party AI service) using an automated source-separation model.
Uploads and results are deleted automatically: the original upload after 24 hours, a mastered output after 7 days, and separated stems (both the free preview and the full paid result) after 7 days, by default.
You can delete your own upload and any results yourself at any time — Stem Splitter shows a "delete" option for uploads on the device/browser you used, or contact us at /contact and we'll delete a specific job on request.
EQ Studio plays your track in your browser and does not upload it while you listen and adjust. The file is uploaded only when you choose to export the processed track, and is then handled like any other upload described above. Its settings are stored with your order so the file you paid for is rendered with exactly those settings.
Rights confirmation you tick before running Stem Splitter (see /terms#audio-tools) is your own confirmation, not something we independently verify.

What we don't do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your intake form details or photos with third parties except as strictly necessary to deliver a service you've requested (e.g. a payment processor to process payment).

Data retention

Contact, order, quiz email and subscription information may have different retention needs. Contact us to request access or deletion; records needed for order administration or unsubscribe suppression may need to be retained. No additional fixed retention period is specified here. Audio cleanup defaults are described above; the production configuration determines the active windows.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at the address on /contact. If you are in the EU/EEA/UK, you have rights under GDPR including access, correction, deletion, and data portability.

MusicMaps Beta

MusicMaps recordings are public contributions, unlike private audio-processing uploads. When you publish, we store the prepared audio, title, description, category, tags, optional creator name/date and the map location you confirm. Your account ID links the contribution to you for management; your account email is not included in the public recording data. Anyone can listen. Downloads are offered when you enable them; listen-only audio is still delivered to listeners and cannot be protected against copying.

Microphone and current-location access are requested only when you choose those controls. You can upload a file and enter a location manually instead. Location is approximate by default (rounded to two decimal places); precise placement is optional. Check the location before publishing and avoid identifiable voices or private places. Audio is converted in your browser to a short mono WAV without the original file metadata before it is uploaded.

Recordings remain public until you remove them in My sounds, delete your account, or an administrator hides or removes them. Account deletion removes MusicMaps audio as well as its library entry. Copies already downloaded by others cannot be recalled. Report a recording through its Report link or contact us.

The interactive map loads only after you choose Load world map. Map tiles are provided by OpenStreetMap; the tile provider receives your IP address and requested map areas. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy. Exploring the map does not require sharing your device location.

Cover Studio and My Covers

Cover Studio renders artwork on your device. Photos selected in the editor are not uploaded unless you choose Save to My Covers while signed in. Saving stores the design settings, text and a resized copy of your photo in your private account so you can reopen the project. Projects are not publicly listed. You can delete individual projects in My Covers; deleting your account also removes your saved covers. Downloaded files on your own device are not affected.
