Frequently asked questions

What's a 'good' RT60 for my room?

It depends on use — the calculator includes target ranges for mixing, mastering, vocal booth, podcast, and general listening, since a good reverb time for a vocal booth is very different from one for a living-room-style listening space.

Can I add my own materials?

Yes — the absorption coefficient table is a normal spreadsheet range, so you can edit or add rows using coefficients from a manufacturer's data sheet.

Why does it warn me about small rooms?

Sabine's equation gets less reliable in small, non-diffuse spaces below the Schroeder frequency — that's real acoustics, not a limitation specific to this calculator. The worksheet flags it so you don't over-trust the number.
