Before you buy another plugin.
A short checklist for choosing tools that solve an actual problem in your next session.
Name the problem first
Describe what you cannot achieve with your current tools. “The vocal becomes harsh on loud phrases” is useful. “My mix needs to sound professional” is too broad to guide a purchase.
Try what you already own
Adjust the source, arrangement and balance first. Then try your DAW’s EQ, dynamics and automation. If those solve the problem comfortably, a new plugin is optional.
Test a real session
Use a demo on a familiar project. Match the output level before bypass comparisons, check the quiet and loud sections, and save the session to test recall. A louder result can be more impressive without being more useful.
Check the practical details
Confirm your operating system, DAW, plugin format and licence conditions on the developer’s page. Think about CPU use, installation and whether you will still understand the controls a month from now. Buy a repeatable workflow improvement, not a promise.
